Infographics – Anatomy of a Librarian

Here’s an interesting infographics which I found on Infographics Showcase – Anatomy of a Librarian.
With the speed at which the internet and social media technologies are changing, the library profession is certainly undergoing a series of metamorphosis and I would be happy to do a follow-up post on this one some years down the road to see what have changed. Anatomy of a Librarian

Wiki      -       means quick in Hawaiian.
Wikis have been around since the mid 1990s, but only recently has the general public become aware of their existence.  Some of the more popular Wikipedia entries have been edited hundreds of times by dozens of people.
Some Wikis are open to everyone.  This can become problematic when spammers or malicious people vandalize entries, but they are usually quickly fixed by concerned members of the wiki community.

It can be difficult for people to get used to the idea of a website that anyone is allowed to add to or edit.  The notion of private property is so deeply embedded in our society that it's difficult to imagine going into someone else's webstie and changing things, even when we are invited to.

Many libraries have been working to make themselves a physical hub of the community.  With community programming and useful workshops, libraries have attracted people to library who may otherwise have never visited.

Some shots of Sarge around the yard.
Sarge and Grouchos backyard.

Look how big Sarge is now.  He weighs nearly 30kgs.  He is a very good boy, and mostly does what he is told.
Shallini has just given me a vet check, and I am fine.  Sarge is also fighting fit.

DELICIOUS

Delicious, as quoted directly from their web page,  "helps you find cool stuff and collect it for easy sharing. Dig into stacks created by the community, and then build your own!".
Education, Art & Design, Entertainment, Fashion, Food and so much more! "Delicious is the place to collect and showcase your passions from across the web.
Save what you like - videos, pictures, tweets, blog posts, or articles - on topics you enjoy, and compile them into one themed stack for easy sharing".

Tag cloud

A Tag cloud (word cloud or weighted list in visual design) is a                           visual representation for text data, typically used to depict keyword metadata (tags) on websties, or to visualize free form text.

TAGS are usually single words, and the importance of each tag is shown with font size or colour.  This format is useful for quickly perceiving the most prominent terms and for locating a term alphabetically to determine its relative prominence.  when used as website navigation aids, the terms are hyperlinked to items associated with the tag.
